STUDYING ECONOMICS |
Study Procedures
If you are encountering difficulties with the material, either what we cover in class or in the text, doing the same thing over and over again--for example, rereading the text 3 or 4 times--is usually not the most effective use of the time you allocate for this course.
Consider adopting the following process:
When examinations are returned, figure out why incorrect questions were wrong and what specific study techniques will rectify the problem. Comments on the exam or research component either provide a summary of the answer or the reason why the answer you provided was incorrect. Often there is a pattern to incorrect answers. If you do not see one, or know what to do about one you find, contact me. The pattern of incorrect answers usually allows me to make specific study suggestions you can do to prepare for future examinations and/or research components. Also, if the exam or research component grade is much different than you expected , let me know. In either case, contact me and we will figure out how to address your concerns.
A former student and economics tutor, Hanna Batchelder, has identified a web site which contains videos of some of the topics in the text and my discussions. The url is: https://www.youtube.com/c/ACDCLeadership/playlists?view=50&sort=dd&shelf_id=11 There are references to problems and exercises which I have not reviewed, but which may be useful.
